I am a "little ol' lady in tennis shoes who can
read and think for myself and remembers that this is MY STATE
GOVERNMENT. In 30 years in TX public school classrooms I taught my
6th graders "what propaganda looks like, smells like, and feels
like" and that there is a process for citizens to use to address
"wrong headed" policies and laws we think unjust. I have never
believed that more than I do today in my fight against the
transportation "vision of the Governor". I believe in " GOD we
trust "; I believe in "we the people"; and I am convinced that it is
our duty and privilege to take action to protect our fundamental
principles. They are on the line in the form of the Trans-Texas
Corridors.
It has been a long road to travel to reach a day
(March 1st & 2nd in Austin) when the earplugs & blinders are
beginning to be cast down by some of our courageous elected
officials like SENATORS CARONA, OGDEN, ELTIFE, and REPRESENTATIVES
like KOLKHORST, LEIBOWITZ, and Joe PITTS, etc. who accept their
parts in loosing the 'monsters' (TransTexas CORRIDORS & Toll
policies) and have vowed to help put things right with hearings and
legislation this session. Such declarations guarantee that the
battle is joined. The media spotlight is more crucial than ever
in carrying those voices which "better positioned forces in the
governor's mansion" will attempt to silence and discredit.
There is also a growing perception among city
dwellers that the words "better mobility, innovative transportation
solutions, privatization, etc." do not guarantee that the policies
and assurances bearing those high sounding phrases are based on fact
or are the best solutions to implement to improve transportation.
The public good is not being served.
What will YOU DO to foster a healthier
atmosphere where "for the people" begins to resonate once more
in this State of YOURS and MINE? Actions of ordinary citizens
to RECLAIM OUR government have never been more IMPORTANT than
NOW. Contact local members of this community who are helping to
inform Austin, Grimes, Waller, Wharton, & Ft. Bend Counties to
receive an information sheet of steps to take and contacts to
make.
I am ONE; together WE are MANY.
